Updating CFX Server Artifacts within Imperial Hosting
Overview
Keeping your FiveM server artifacts up to date is crucial for ensuring security, stability, and access to the latest features. This guide will walk you through the process of updating your FiveM server artifacts on Imperial Hosting. Our system uses the Pterodactyl panel for server management, making it simple to update your server artifacts to the latest version or a specific version you have defined, which may be necessary for compatibility with certain scripts or plugins.
Steps to Update Server Artifacts
1. Access the Pterodactyl Panel
- Log in to your Imperial Hosting account.
- Navigate to the Pterodactyl panel.
- Select the server you wish to update.
2. Delete the alpine
Folder
Deleting the alpine
folder is necessary because it contains the existing FiveM server artifacts. Removing it ensures that the system downloads and installs the latest or specified version of the artifacts during the reinstallation process.
- Open the File Manager within the Pterodactyl panel.
- Locate the
alpine
folder in the server’s root directory.
- Click the checkbox on the left-hand side of the
alpine
folder, then use the Delete or Remove button in the File Manager toolbar to delete the folder.
- Confirm the deletion.
3. Reinstall the Server
- Navigate back to the server settings page.
- Click on Reinstall Server.
- The system will now pull the latest artifacts available or use the version specified under the FiveM version setting and rebuild the alpine folder and anything else that might be missing from your install.
4. Verify the Update
- Once the reinstallation process is complete, start the server.
- Check the server console logs to confirm that the updated artifacts have been applied successfully. Look for messages indicating successful installation, such as 'Artifact update complete' or 'Server successfully started.' please note some dependencies may need installed or rebuilt and it is completely normal for this process to take a few seconds longer
- If necessary, test the server to ensure proper functionality.
Notes
- If a specific FiveM version is defined in your server configuration, the system will pull that version instead of the latest.
- Always create a backup of your server files before updating to prevent any data loss. You can do this by utilizing the Backups section in the Pterodactyl panel or by using SFTP to securely transfer files to your local machine. Ensuring you have a backup allows you to restore your server quickly in case of any issues.
- If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to Imperial Hosting support for assistance.
By following these steps, you can easily keep your FiveM server updated with the latest artifacts for the best performance and stability. It is recommended to check for updates regularly, at least once a month, to ensure compatibility with new features and security patches.
